Wednesday 30 January, Houses of the Oireachtas Committee will consider a petition submitted by the Stamp 3 Association.

Members of the Joint Committee on Public Petitions will discuss the petition, which received more than 6,500 signatures. The petition calls for easier access to work for spouses of Non-EEA Employment Permit Holders in Ireland.

“Making access to work possible for highly skilled people already living in Ireland just makes sense,” says Stamp 3 Visa holder and Stamp 3 Association co-founder Yulia Ghumman. “Many businesses in Ireland struggle to find qualified workers. Cutting the red tape will help companies fill critical roles while also helping Stamp 3 visa holders better integrate into Irish society.”

The Stamp 3 Association petition calls on the Irish government to align policies with the rest of Europe, automatically granting the right to work for spouses of work permit holders. While Ireland has a spousal work permit, the long processing times and extra bureaucratic hurdles act as a barrier for many employers and potential workers.

The Joint Committee on Public Petitions, chaired by Seán Sherlock TD will review the petition to ensure it complies with Standing Orders and can move along to further legislative review. The committee has members from both the Dáil and Seanad.
